The Internal Battle

If you ask any girl of colour if they’ve had to ‘consider’ their natural hair before a professional event, the majority will tell you they have had to have an internal battle with themselves. “If I wear my hair natural will I still get the job?”
“Will they consider my natural hair professional?”
“Will they take me seriously?” It’s such a shame that westernized standards of beauty still dictate how black women should wear their hair in certain situations. It’s also the hypocrisy of our protective styles being deemed as ‘ghetto ‘ or unprofessional until a celeb decides to make it acceptable.
These issues need to be addressed through education and promoting self love and acceptance amongst our children ?.
